TEN's Student Team
Project TEN Reference book and course
The different partner countries in the TEN project are pushing hard
to actualize Ecological Networks on all levels; regional, national
and transnational. Some overviews on a certain level on a specific
topic are available, but a complete review on the European situation
on all levels and all topics is missing. This gives a major risk that
over and over again the same ideas are being developed and put to
practice, while in general the effectiveness turns out to be lower
without communication on the realization of the outputs. A central
information desk or database to gain or exchange knowledge on ecological
water
corridors does not exist. To fulfill this need the Province of Drenthe
developed a plan to compose a handbook and a course in cooperation
with the Van Hall Instituut Business Center. Students of the Van Hall
Instituut (see below for an introduction) are preparing this handbook
and the course. For this purpose they make a detailed inventory and
evaluation of the existing knowledge in different European countries
(emphasis on the Netherlands, Germany, UK).
Ingrid Timmermans
Hi, my name is Ingrid Timmermans and I am a student at the Van Hall
Instituut in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. Here I follow the Bachelor
programme of Animal Management. I am now in the final year and my
specializations are:
" Policy and Communication
" Wildlife Management in situ/ ex situ
Together with Jette we form the TEN students team. Where we work
on theme 1: Policy and Implementation. For this topic I'm helping
Jette with an inventory on ecological water corridors. For the other
topic: Design and Construction two other foreign students are presently
being approached.
Jette Bijlholt
I am Jette Bijlholt and I am one of the students that are working
on the TEN-3 project. I am making an inventory of the knowledge that
is present about ecological water corridors in the Netherlands, Germany
and the U.K. Therefore I interview many people of different provinces,
water boards and other (nature) organizations. It is nice to meet
all these people and to see the differences between the tasks of these
organizations and the way that they are involved by the realization
of water corridors. Another nice aspect of this placement is that
I learn a lot about the realization of water corridors in Germany
and the U.K. in stead of only the Netherlands. I hope that my second
placement will be even as nice as this one!
You can meet the students at the Conference in Norwich in June! They
will be present to interview the foreign partners.
